Asher HaVon is 31 years old as of 2024. His hometown is Selma, AL, and he resides in Houston, TX. His mother’s name is Joanne Smith. When he was young, still studying in school, he used to share his talent at community events, school functions, and churches and perform annually at Selma’s Jazz on the Grazz. He has also co-written the original stage play, “I Am Not a Statistic,” performed onstage at the Performing Arts Center.

How did he start singing?

Asher started growing his passion and love for music at three. He performed live at the PTO meetings (the meetings between the school staff, teachers, administrators, employees, parents, & other staff members). He started traveling to the country tour and spreading the gift god gave him. He has also performed in music theatres, and many theatres opened their doors for him to perform on the stage.

He has also performed on the New York, Atlanta, and Alabama stages. In 2015, he sang for former President Obama and 100 members of Congress at the “50th Bridge Crossing Jubilee.” The same year, he was allowed to sing for King Obi. He thinks he is living out the second chance that has granted him love, passion, and devotion to music.

Career

Growing up, Asher HaVon was always surrounded by gospel singers. In honor of African American civil rights, he sang for President Obama in 2015 for the 50th anniversary of the 1965 march. He also gave auditions for the choir that was set to perform John Legend’s song “Glory.” His song was so loved that he led the choir that nearly 200,000 people attended. It further led to a turning point in Asher HaVon’s life.

After this, he started having a better relationship with his father. At the same time of year, his father went through an accident, and eventually, he became closer to his father while taking care of him. The father-son duo talks regularly now while having Asher’s songs/music as the great support.

Asher HaVon always thanked his mother for supporting him and pushing him for the music when he was young. He calls his mother “a singing sergeant”, who was a great supporter behind his appearance on the show “The Voice.”
