Monica McNutt was born on 24th October 1989 in Suitland, Maryland. Her father, Kevin McNutt, is a basketball coach and author of two books – Playing Time (2015), & Hooked on Hoops (2002). He also worked in sales, selling commercial office furniture for various companies. Her mother, Desiree McNutt, worked as a teacher.

Monica’s educational background features her participation in high school basketball at the Academy of the Holy Cross, part of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. She was named MVP of Maryland.

She attended Georgetown University from 2007-2011 and received a B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) degree. She also played collegiate basketball for Georgetown Hoyas as a guard and earned second-team All-Big East.
